California’s Great America is Striking for Gold in 2013
I know I’m late for this announcement but Gold Striker looks like It’ll be awesome coaster, I just didn’t have time to write about it with all the Six Flags announcements last week. Gold Striker will be a Great Coasters International (GCI) wooden coaster.
There were rumors earlier this year that Cedar Fair would be selling California’s Great America. Those plans fell through however and it looks like the Cedar Fair has decided that if they can’t sell the park, then they should make it more appealing. Gold Striker will be 108.2 feet tall and 3,197 feet long. The fist drop will spiral around the park’s observation tower.
There will be plenty of turns and head-choppers during the ride. In the POV it looks like there might even be a good amount of airtime if all those small hills are taken at a high speed. Right now Gold Striker might not look too exiting but GCI has surprised me in the past with their rides. Prowler at World’s of Fun even took the Golden Ticket Award for best new coaster in 2009 beating out Diamondback and Manta.
Here’s the POV:
I think it will be a good addition to the park.
