The Most Legendary Newer Coasters

September 1, 2011

I wrote a post about the most legendary coasters before but all of the coasters were 20 years or older. I am writing a post on the most legendary newer coasters. Remember: this is not a list of the best coasters, just the most legendary. Here they are, in no particular order:

Millennium Force, Cedar Point: The first giga (300+ feet tall) coaster, Golden Ticket Award Best Coaster winner for 5 years.

Bizarro (Superman Ride of Steel), Six Flags New England: Golden Ticket Award Best Coaster winner for 5 years.

Nemesis, Alton Towers: The most famous inverted coaster.

X2 (X), Six Flags Magic Mountain: The first 4th Dimension coaster.

The Voyage, Holiday World: Golden Ticket Award Best Wooden Coaster for 5 years in a row.

Incredible Hulk, Islands of Adventure: A large launched coaster.

Kingda Ka, Six Flags Great Adventure: Tallest coaster in the world.

Apollo’s Chariot, Busch Gardens Williamsburg: A very famous hyper coaster.

Intimidator 305, King’s Dominion: An intense giga coaster that has gained legendary status very quickly.

Kumba, Busch Gardens: A famous sitting coaster with 7 inversions.

What do you think? Please comment. Thanks for reading. 🙂

I would also include El Toro. El Toro was very innovative and unique when it opened. There were only 2 or 3 other intamin prefabs around, and El Toro was the first to hit america. It was also the first wooden coaster to use and elevator cable lift. It was also the steepest wooden coaster at the time, and is now(with Son of Beast closed) the second tallest and fastest wooden coaster in the world. Plus, El Toro is rated the best wooden coaster by the coaster critic and mitch hawker’s coaster poll.

    • The only reason I didn’t put it in was that I already had a coaster from SFGAdv. I had to decide between Kingda Ka or El Toro, I decided that the tallest and almost fastest coaster was more legendary. I didn’t want to do two coasters from the same park. I did that on my other list, that doesn’t really count though because Drachen Fire has been closed for years.

Maybe Formula Rossa, the fastest coaster in the world could enter this list.

    • Maybe, but I’m not sure if it is really legendary yet. If no one else builds a faster coaster for years then maybe it will become legendary. If someone builds a faster ride next year though, Formula Rossa will probably not get on the list.
