Big Thunder Mountain Railroad

April 29, 2011

Big Thunder Mountain Railroad is a heavily themed mine train at the Magic Kingdom.

The ride starts when you dive into a dark cavern that is filled with bats and rock formations. The first lift hill actually rises between two waterfalls. There is a small drop but not much, into scenery that looks like the wild west, the ride winds over and under itself a number of times so it is nearly impossible to memorize the layout. The second lift hill is one of the highlights of the ride because there are rocks that threaten to fall on the train as it passes under them, the track is made so that it looks like it keeps going up when it actually dives down, so it is a surprise when you ride into a hidden tunnel. There are some more twists and turns around geysers, warthogs, and dinosaur skeletons before the final brakes.

Big Thunder Mountain was fun but not very thrilling, it is a classic though. I am giving it a 5 out of 10.

Have you been on Big Thunder Mountain Railroad? What do you think? Please comment. Thanks for reading. 🙂
