Happy Roller Coaster Day 2012!
As the title says, Happy Roller Coaster Day! On August 16th 1898 the vertical loop was patented. Of course enthusiasts ride these thrill rides today but some parks get into it too. Buffalo Bill’s Hotel and Casino, near Las Vegas, is giving out free rides on their Desperado hypercoaster. Unfortunately I always seem to forget that today is a holiday (at least for us coaster junkies
) so I didn’t ride anything.

Also, be sure to go over to The Coaster Critic’s Blog and wish him a happy birthday. It’s a major coincidence that he was born on Roller Coaster day!
What do you think? Are you riding a coaster? Please comment. Thanks for reading!

Happy roller coaster day to you too! Yesterday was fun. I celebrated by editing my top 20 coasters, watching povs in descending order of my top 10 coasters, and best yet went to dorney park and rode some coasters! Unfortunately when I went to Dorney I was greeted by absurdly long lines for a thursday night, but I got on Steel force, stinger, possessed, hydra, and talon and had some of the best rides at night on steel force, hydra, and talon. It was a great day!
The last time I went to Dorney Park was in 2006, one year after they opened Hydra. At the time it was my favorite coaster. We also rode Steel Force over and over (there were hardly any lines after a quick thunderstorm.) Thanks for commenting!
Interesting write-up, thanks for sharing.
